St. Bridget of Erin
St. Bridget School and Church are located at 600 Clifford Avenue in Loves Park, Illinois and serve the communities of Loves Park, Machesney Park, Roscoe and Rockford. The School and Parish boundaries are formed by the Rock River on the west, the Boone County line on the east and McDonald Road in Roscoe on the north. The southern boundary of the parish is Springcreek Road from the Rock River to Alpine Road and Riverside Boulevard from Alpine Road to the Boone County line.
St. Bridget Parish was established on January 30, 1946. The first Mass was held on the feast of the Assumption, August 15, 1946 with 67 families in a rented tent at the corner of Highway 251 and Riverside Boulevard. The tent was later replaced with the Catholic Chapel of Camp Grant, which was moved to Loves Park. Nine acres were eventually purchased on Clifford Avenue and in 1954 ground was broken for the building that would serve as St. Bridget Church until 1988, when the new church was dedicated.
St. Bridget Parish opened a new Parish Center in 2005. Home to parish meetings, continuing education classes, luncheons, the annual Spring Tea and other special events, the Parish Center contains three classrooms, two administrative offices and a social hall which comfortably seats 300 people. There is also a full basement which provides space for future planned expansion.
St. Bridget Parish is currently home to over 2000 registered families. The Parish campus now includes the Church and Chapel building, the new Parish Center, the Parish Offices/Rectory and St. Bridget School, as well as spacious grounds. We invite you to join us!
