Altar Servers--The privilege of serving Mass is offered to all students in 5th through 8th grade. Parents are asked to see that their child is present and on time for their appointed duty. Schedules are listed in the Parish bulletin and posted outside the School Office. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for a substitute if they are unable to serve. If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please contact the Parish offices.

Band--Students in 4th through 8th grade may receive lessons at St. Bridget School through Music Education Services. Band lessons are scheduled before and during school. The band performs several concerts each year, at St. Bridget School as well as other locations. The St. Bridget School band is under the direction of Mr. Mark Nelson.

Builders Club--Builders Club is a national organization affiliated with Kiwanis International and area high school Key Clubs. The St. Bridget Builders Club is made up of 7th and 8th grade students. Members have the opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills through the operation of a service club. The group meets twice a month and plans fund raisers and service projects to help their school, parish, neighborhood, city and the world. Some of the projects that have been completed in the past year are: selling Book Sox, holding candy sales, making Easter baskets for Catholic Charities for the Foster Children’s party, collecting  teddy bear/stuffed animals for WNTA Radio which were cleaned by Davigs and distributed to poor children, donating money to the school “Flood of Relief” program for victims of hurricane Katrina, sending school supplies and money to a mission in Africa, and purchasing air pumps for the playground equipment.  Projects that are in process include a book sale for February and purchase of some new playground equipment for the junior high homerooms.  The moderator of Builders Club is Sister Mary Kay Moran, SSCM.

Drama Groups--Every other year the graduating 8th grade class, under the direction of Mrs. Rufh, presents the 8th grade play. Many musicals have been enjoyed over the years, and a catered meal is often served at this St. Bridget Dinner Theater. On the off years, students have the opportunity to experience a theater production in Chicago. In addition, the 4th grade classes have for several years presented an installment of the production Kidz Praise! series, with both school matinees and evening performances. Kidz Praise! is directed by Mrs. Trotter and Mrs. Toldo.
Field Day--Field Day is held near the end of each school year, and celebrates the completed year and the upcoming summer vacation with games, athletic events and treats. Mrs. VanHulle and Miss Osborn coordinate Field Day.
Green Club--Each year the 4th grade classes, with the supervision of Mrs. Trotter and Mrs. Deckard, undertake the recycling of all waste paper generated by the school. In a building housing over 500 people, this is a significant effort. Recyclables are picked up from each classroom at least twice each month.
May Crowning--Each year in the month of May, St. Bridget School holds a May crowning in Mary's Garden to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. The procession is led by the 2nd grade children who have recently received their 1st Communion and the graduating 8th grade class.
Mass Mentors--Students in grades 7 & 8 are paired with students in Kindergarten and 1st grade for All School Masses and Prayer Services throughout the year.
Parish Youth Choir--The St. Bridget Youth Choir is open to all students in grades 3-8 who like to sing or who play an instrument. Practice is held on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays of each month from 11:00-11:45 a.m. and the choir sings at the 12:00 Mass on the 4th Sunday of the month. For more information, please contact Mrs. Sue Custer.
Park Tower Partners--Second Grade students make regular visits to a retirement complex near the school. Students and residents benefit from the intergenerational friendships which are formed, and everyone enjoys participating in special activities scheduled during the year. Mrs. Koroll and Mrs. Hansen coordinate the Park Tower visits.
Red Ribbon Week--Each year a special week commemorates the need to be Drug Free. The week is highlighted by anti-substance abuse messages, Red Ribbon artwork, speakers and special prize drawings. Mrs. Rodenbeck and Mrs. Rufh plan Red Ribbon Week.
Safety Patrol--All students in 6th grades are eligible for participation in the Safety Patrol. These students help maintain school safety on the playground, in the hallways, in the parking lot and at the school entrances. In return for their service, the Safety Patrol enjoys a pizza party at Christmas and an end-of-the-year bowling trip. The faculty moderator of Safety Patrol is Mr. Long.
Scholastic Bowl--The Scholastic Bowl team is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students who enjoy competing in academic areas, including literature, sports, math and science. The team enjoys practicing, competing against area schools and working together as a team. For more information concerning Scholastic Bowl, please contact Sister Mary Kay Moran SSCM or Mr. Long.
Scouts--St. Bridget School hosts several Scout troops. For information concerning Cub Scouts, please contact Mr. Barone; for Boy Scouts, Mr. Jann. For information concerning Girl Scouts, please contact Mrs. Gamlin.
Spelling Bee--The Regional Office of Education sponsors a county-wide Spelling Bee each year. Students in grades 6-8 compete first within their classrooms, and then move on to a school-wide competition. The winner then goes to the Regional Spelling Bee; the Regional winner attends the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
Student Council--The St. Bridget Student Council is elected each year and consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Commissioners of Religion, Safety, Grades K-4, Grades 5-8 and the School Store. In addition, each of the 16 home rooms in grades 1-8 elects a room representative to speak for that room at Student Council meetings. Please contact Mrs. Deckard or Mr. Brown with questions concerning the Student Council.
